With Geoff Johns moving on from his long tenure as writer of JUSTICE SOCIETY OF AMERICA with the 26th issue of the current series, I’m sure many of you are wondering just what is in store for the world’s first super-team. Well, for starters, we have writer/artist Jerry Ordway stepping in for a stint, to be followed by the new regular creative team of writers Bill Willingham and Matt Sturges and artist Jesus Merino. While you may be familiar with the work of Willingham and Sturges — either on Vertigo’s FABLES or their work on SHADOWPACT and SALVATION RUN — we wanted to make sure you knew exactly what kind of ultra-detailed goodness you’d be getting from Merino, so here’s a nice helping of art from JUSTICE SOCIETY OF AMERICA #29, which you’ll see on stands this summer.

Dear DC… This doesn’t hit for a few months, so you still have time to fix the Flash’s helmet.
Other stuff looks pretty good, though.
Hey, it’s that extending snake guy from Willingham’s Robin.
Sturges kind of stunk on Shadowpact, but his Eclipso story in Countdown to Mystery was pretty excellent. Willingham delivered on Robin. Both are masterminds of the Fables-verse. so I see no reason to drop off this. John’s run started great, but the big story stretched much longer than it needed to without the big return to the Kingdom I think a lot of people were hoping for.
Outrageous! Tough to tackle that many characters in tandem. Great stuff.
Awesome, I like the artwork, but umm…where’s Obsidian?
Artist lives up to his name, ahah. Those are some great looking pencils. Rare to see that many characters with that much detail.
Unrelated, but is there anyway to list the number of comments / put a link to the comments section on the front page of the posts withotu having to click through to get to it? Would make it easier to keep track of comments / see what posts have discussion / etc.
Wow. Artwise the book is certainly in capable hands. Although Flash’s helmut looks the same as those rebels soldiers on Princess Leia’s ship at the start of Ep. IV.
The writing I’m a little wary of since I love Fables, but disliked Shadowpact and Salvation Run. I guess we’ll see.
I was thinking of dropping this book, but with art like that I’m staying on.
