Peter Tomasi and artist Lee Garbett turn the heat up on the newly-formed Outsiders team in this issue, the third part of “The Deep.” Can the team properly hold off the Thrashers with the Creeper on the verge of a nervous breakdown? Also, who are The Insiders and why are they talking to a certain Slade Wilson? For some answers, click below.

THE OUTSIDERS #17 goes on sale 4/22.

I was a teenager when the first issue of Batman and the Outsiders came out. How much does the teenager in me LOVE the fact that the Original OUTSIDERS are back together again!?! One question: Will Mr. Tomasi be explaining how Halo got her Violet Harper body back? (or has it already been explained somewhere else and I just missed it?)

Really enjoying this so far, especially the character interactions. I never collected BATO back in the day, but I’ve tried both the Outsiders re-launch with Nightwing and the recent Chuck Dixon start. Both eventually lost me (although the art was great) but so far so good with Tomasi’s run.

I might only be 27 years old so I was pretty young or not even born when the original Batman and the Outsiders started, but I have had the pleasure of reading a few from my dad’s collection of comic books and I also read every incarnation of them since Donna Troy’s death and the relaunch. I have found this to be the team I love to watch they constantly keep my enthralled even though they start to lose their edge over time for some reason with each incarnation. I think giving this team this new special mission will not only help the book, but provide a deeper meaning for the entire team. The artwork is also becoming higher on the series then previous Outsider books.
