Get your first look at WEDNESDAY COMICS

Thursday, April 16th, 2009

By Alex Segura

The brainchild of DC Comics Art Director Mark Chiarello, WEDNESDAY COMICS is a unique and groundbreaking storytelling method — 16 pages, printed on broadsheet-size newsprint, featuring weekly stories by the best and brightest creators out there. It’s gotta look great, right?

We have your first peek at a page from writer John Arcudi and artist Lee Bermejo’s SUPERMAN strip, along with a page from the 100 BULLETS team of Brian Azzarello and Eduardo Risso, re-teaming on the Dark Knight for the first time since their acclaimed “Broken City’ arc.

Those are stunning pages! Can’t wait for more news on this.

On a side note, can we have some discussions going on in this blog? Tom Brevoort does that in his and I really admire his “Fix My Marvel” entry where he just let his readers talk about what their ideal Marvel (in all its respects) would be like.

Perhaps an editor can host this too. I am sure you guys will be amazed by the feedback you’ll get.

I’ll admit I was really not that interested in this, but after seeing the preview page, I might just have to check it out. Thanks DC.

    Isn’t Batman Dead? I mean come on…

  9. mambazo says on :

First of all blaquesaber, Batman is NOT dead, and they’ve made this quite clear a numerous amount of times.

Secondly, no one said that these stories are canon, or that they are occupying a certain period of time, so they can use Bruce if they want to. Quit your incessant whining.

    This looks absolutely great!
On a slight off the subject note, wouldn’t it be nice to see Superman and/or Batman back in the daily newspapers as well? Spider-Man has a daily/Sunday comic, shouldn’t DC have some representation in the newspapers as well?

This looks very creative. I can tell a lot of effort went into this.

Too cool… but why a teaser with no RELEASE DATE posted? Sometimes I’m too lazy to do a search! LOL.
