    If that is indeed Barbara, I will definitely be picking it up. The current Batgirl doesn’t really appeal to me. However I hope they don’t kill her off as thats not fair to the fans that supported her all these years.

    I wouldn’t jump to any conclusions just yet. There’s nothing about that particular teaser to indicate *who* this Batgirl is.

    Indeed, if you go by only the image you would be led to believe that this Batgirl is Cassandra Cain. Minus the face portion it’s her costume, after all.

    Still, that’s some beautiful art. Who drew that?

    I know this is silly considering its a comic, and it could be all up to artistic impression, but Im guessing Barbara because she seems too busty to be Cassandra.

    But you are correct, it could just be a more outgoing Cassandra.

    i hope that it’s NOT Barbara. i wouldn’t mind if babs started walking again, but i don’t want her to be batgirl because she is WAY too important to the DCU overall in her role as Oracle. probably 99% of the heroes’ intelligence info comes from oracle. don’t take that away from them!!!

    While the Babs Batgirl was my first comic book sweetheart, I have to agree that she’s too important — and much more interesting — as Oracle.

    Am I missing a reason that no one’s guessing that this Batgirl might be Stephanie Brown?

    I think it is betty kane. The original batgirl. 1. Kathy Kane being batwoman. 2. They are getting rid of nightwing becuase of the emergence of the character in the superman titles, whose side-kick is flamebird, who betty kane held the mantle for as late as infinite crisis. Also, she made a quick cameo in What Ever Happened to the Caped Crusader? Thats my dark horse answer.

    I doubt Cassie would be this happy. And I also doubt it’s going to be Barbara. It took them quite a while to establish her as Oracle and we all know Oracle has been far more successful as a “product” than Batgirl.

    It must be another girl.

    You know. Calculator’s Daughter/The girl that’s lying in a coma? She’ll get cured and Babs will be like “Hey you. You should be batgirl.”

    Also, I really would like to know who drew this. It’s gorgeous, and I can’t help but think the style looks familiar.

    If it’s Stephanie (or Wendy– good idea) I’ll check this out. Although Barbara will ALWAYS be the one, true Batgirl for me, I really prefer her now as Oracle. Cassandra Cain never did it for me, personally.

    nothing in the picture suggests it is Barbara, i am guessing it is Cassie, because the costume is the same minus the face piece. and the reason she wore the face piece in the first place is no longer valid.

    From the skin tone and lips it looks like it could be Barbara, Stephanie or Wendy. Maybe even Huntress, as she wore this outfit first!

    I have no idea why I would be expected to support Barbara as Batgirl. Undoing the character’s progression would be nothing to applaud.

    I also have no idea why I would be expected to support a NEW new Batgirl. Considering how badly they treated Cassandra Cain as of late, why would anyone else fare better? “Please check out our new Batgirl! She’ll get a handful of appearances, then get mismanaged to the point of absurdity, all while the people writing other Batman books do their darndest to pretend she doesn’t exist!”

    It should be Cassandra. She’s been handled SO poorly since OYL.

    It almost looks like Selina (the smile and pose seem to reflect a fair amount of confidence which I doubt Cassandra or Spoiler can provide.)

    The mask is definitely Cassandra’s though.

    They are slowly starting to build Barbara’s potential to walk though to.

    I’d almost like them to tag team Batgirl so the whole cast could be almost a Birds of Prey type of title with Barbara, Cassandra, Spoiler, Misfit, & Vale each wearing the costume.)

    I think it’s a mistake to replace Cassandra. She was doing really well until One Year Later. I think it’s sad that people ended up abandoning the character due to poor writing in both OYL and the latest mini.

    IF this Batgirl is new, I hope it’s Misfit. I didn’t like her at first, but she sorta grew on me I guess. I feel like she has many of the attributes that made Barbara so appealing, and I love the big/little sister relationship she has with Barbara.
    All this talk about Babs returning to the role has me very worried, it would be a complete waste of 20+ years of story-telling, which have transformed Babs from a sidekick to an independent and respectable hero in her own right.

    That said, even though I like Misfit, I don’t understand why DC feels like every female Bat character needs to have red hair. Kate Kane already looks enough like Babs, with Misfit in the mix how could people not end up confused? Couldn’t they have made one of them blonde and one of them brunette or something?

    Not really partial to who the Batgirl is, but I hope they make her uniform more interesting. The current Batgirl costume is awful. Love the updates they made to the Batwoman costume for Detective….

    At least it looks as though they might modify the current costume by removing the mask around the mouth. What a disappointment it would be if that was it though…

    Hmmmm, very interesting. I also hope it isn’t Babs. I’d be okay with Cassandra or Steph. Though Cass deserves it more. Maybe both? Remember when Selina and Holly both were Catwoman?

    I hope that Batgirl will be shown to be Cassandra Cain. She is a fascinating character and it would be interesting to see how she will integrate with the other members of the Batman Family. Having said that, I believe Barbara Gordon is far too valuable to the DC Universe at large as Oracle to go backwards to play Batgirl again. I would like to see her healed. It is hard for me to believe that with all the technology and magic in the DC Universe, Barbara isn’t up and running so to speak. I’d also like to see Steph more active too. Maybe the three of them could sometimes work together. Maybe with Dinah and the rest thrown in.

    I think there is a simple fact of psychology that everyone here is missing, not to mention physiology. The skin tone on the face is too dark for Babs, or spoiler…, let alone Misfit. It must be Cassandra. As for breast size, look back at the previous series and you will know it is possible. The image, looks exactly like Cassandra when she modified Babs old costume after Bats took it away, before before they fought and made up.

    Additionally, the smile could be the sign of confidence that she is showing being the new Dark Knight, what she has always wanted! And now not having to be ashamed of being a Cane, but proud of being a Wayne!

    i definitely vote for bette kane. she was the first bat-girl. they’ve reintroduced the kryptonian flamebird/nightwing combo, so she won’t be flamebird. i think they’ll tie her to batwoman - it would play into the entire teen titans of the future storyline where bette was batwoman. totally makes sense with this ‘new earth’ where they are reintroducing all the older characters. i certainly would read it too…
