Well, a little more, at least. We’re not going to spoil the party right away and tell you who’s behind the mask. Heck, it might be someone you’ve never met before. Or it might not.
But, we can give you the lowdown on who the creators on this new ongoing will be. First up, the series will be written by Bryan Q. Miller, who is no stranger to superheroics, having done some writing for a little show called “Smallville.” Miller will also be penning a three-issue arc of TEEN TITANS, starting in July.
On art, we have Lee Garbett, who’s been doing a bang-up job as the regular artist on THE OUTSIDERS. Just wait until you see his interpretation of Batgirl — definitely a post for another day. He’ll be teaming with inker Trevor Scott.
And, for those of you kind folks chiming in on the comments, the cover artist is none other than Phil Noto, who did up the shiny piece of art you see above.

The cover is really nice, but… I don’t really care about Batgirl…
So is he out of the Outsiders already? Can´t DC fix an artist to a book?
I can’t help but notice that young lady’s mask is STITCHED ONTO HER FACE.
I’m just really hoping it’s Cassandra and not Barbara… and the open mouth doesn’t look nearly as cool on here as the closed mouth did. It was so much more ninja looking…. and as the last guy said, it’s STITCHED ONTO HER FACE! Ow.
Another TV writer moves to comics? Enh…
My first guess as to who it is is a new character. My second guess is Stephanie Brown.
By the way, does anyone know if this series is continuous or a mini?
I had a crush on a girl back at PS 139 in Brooklyn… several decades ago… and her name was (is?)… Stephanie Brown. Really.
Stephanie Brown would make sense, Her and Cassandra were close friends. She could wear the altered version of the current suit and get away with it. There is going to be a Spoiler in Red Robin though, so who knows. If Stephanie Brown is the new Batgirl it would be a good thing seeing as she could use a fresh start, all she has done as Spoiler is cause trouble!
For God’s sake people, the mask isn’t stitched to her face! Why is this so hard to understand? It’s the same mask as before and the stitched on piece has been torn out, leaving the leftover stitches.
It’s not stitched to her face. That would be ridiculous.
Man, Noto’s artword really pops with that colorist. I’ve always loved his coverwork, but it’s always been more of a pulp style. This is gorgeous as well though.
Note that he says he doesn’t want to SPOIL it - could it be Step aka The Spoiler?

That Bryan Q. Miller guy better do no suck.
Phil Noto drew a few issues and covers for Birds of Prey which starred Oracle who is/was Barbara Gordon who was/is Batgirl who has a new series coming out August with a cover by Phil Noto. Full circle, to me.
Oh, and who’s the new artist of OUTSIDERS? Don’t you dare to pull on us some Scott McDaniel trick that DC loves so much.
A smallville writer? Well, better to find out sooner than later. Now no one will get their hopes up for this series only to be dissapointed.
I really hope it’s Cassandra. After all that character has been through in the past few years and the steps that DC took to undo the damage and integrate her more fully into the Bat-Family, I’d be really disappointed if there was a new Batgirl.
Don’t care who Bat Girl is this looks freakin’ sweet.
Wait, if BQM is writing this title, does that mean he’s off Smallville? Because that would suck. He’s for sure the most competent writer on staff over there, even if he’s a newb that’s only penned 3 episodes. Though as a fan of both his Smallville eps and of Teen Titans, I’m going to be looking forward to that 3 issue run in July either way.
[...] day, David re-posted DC’s teaser image of the new Batgirl, and now it looks like the company is doling out a little more info—the creative team. It will be written by Bryan Q. Miller, a Smallville writer who will also be [...]
