In a few short days, the final chapter of BATTLE FOR THE COWL hits the stands and the entire world will learn the identity of the new Batman. It’s a journey long in the making and it’s hard to believe all the hard work from all of our creators is finally paying off on the printed page.
But we’re not wasting any time resting on our butts. Nope, we’re diving straight into the next exciting phase of the Dark Knight’s life, an era which reflects the new world order for Gotham City and its favorite protector–BATMAN REBORN.
We kick things off in June, starting with a brand new monthly series by the most exciting creative tag-team in comics–BATMAN & ROBIN by Grant Morrison & Frank Quitely. Trust us, this isn’t your parents’ Dynamic Duo–expect the unexpected (including the surprising return of several characters)!
Judd Winick returns to the Bat-family to write our flagship title, BATMAN–with art by two of the most amazing artists in comics–Ed Benes illustrates our first issue back and then the great Mark Bagley draws the first big storyarc!
Over in DETECTIVE COMICS, we’re operating outside of the box with this title and allowing someone other than Batman star in the title for the first time in many years. Kate Kane–BATWOMAN–takes center stage in this long-running series, courtesy of the incomparable team of Greg Rucka and JH Williams.
The very talented Paul Dini has signed on to pen not one, but two Batman series, both brand-new monthlies. GOTHAM CITY SIRENS follows the mis-adventures Gotham’s most lethal ladies–Catwoman, Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn. With amazing art by newcomer Guillem March, this series is a can’t-miss. And over in BATMAN: STREETS OF GOTHAM, a series devoted to all of the other heroes in Gotham, Paul is joined by long-time DETECTIVE COMICS partner Dustin Nguyen.
RED ROBIN is another new title debuting in June (who’s behind that mask, you ask? We’re not telling!). Chris Yost writes this news series with artwork by Ramon Bachs.
And that’s just the tip of the iceberg folks–Tony Daniel makes his triumphant return to the Bat-books in a short while, and later this year we have the series debut of both BATGIRL and AZRAEL!

Thx 4 tha notes!
Oh.
my.
god.
Loving this!!!
So… Tony on Azrael then? Or Batman after Bagley leaves?
DC…you’re bleeding me dry! i’m going to have to pick all of those up.
… this is great!
im really excited and my expectations are VERY high!
this all looks great!!
the only thing im worried about is .. what about bruce?
in the blackest night is the black hand really going to raise him from the dead? is there going to be a fight over the soul of bruce wayne?
i hope he comes back eventually. if barry allen can do it so can brucey!
I’m not sure what to think. I miss Bruce and don’t like seeing Tim Drake so muscular and old looking(especially since he’s 17).
However, I am excited to see how a new person takes on the Batman role and I really hope it’s Dick Grayson. It’s also great to finally see Batwoman get a chance to shine.

Ed Benes? No thank you.
Is this the first time we’ve heard of an ongoing Azrael book? Or is this just the first time I’ve noticed?
It’s interesting how the two Battle for the Cowl had two “extra minis”: one about Barbara and the other about the new Azrael.
Now Azrael is getting an ongoing. And so is a new Batgirl. Barbara? Hmmm…..
I haven’t been this excited about Batman since….Hush?
I’m really looking forward to Detective Comics and Batman. Batman & Robin I’m a little hesitant about but I will keep an open mind when I read it.
I’m just nervous about Batgirl!! Who will it be!?!?
Red Robin looks fun and if it’s written by Yost, I’m all over it!!
SOO many good titles I don’t know where to begin!!
Wow… This is the coolest thing I’ve seen all month!! I seriously can’t wait!
I’m not even a fan of Batman but all these cool plot developments keep making me want to read more and more each time I consider leaving it behind. After he “died” I planned to stop, now I had planned to stop after Cowl just so I could see who was next, but it looks like I’ll be buying way more Bat books than ever before now. I guess I’m a fan, we’ll see if this is as cool as it sounds.
Yeah, I’m hyped for two things:
FILTHY RICH (and Vertigo Crime as a whole).

And DETECTIVE COMICS.

Red Robin looks like it’ll be worth a peek.
Azrael was announced at the end of issue #3 of the last mini so no big surprise there, but I think it’s going to depend on the creative team to see if I pick that one up.
Man, those first two pages are pure sex!
Haven’t been so excited for an upcoming event in a long time.
This is a great time to be a Batman fan.
Hmm I hope that’s not supposed to be Tim Drake in the Red Robin outfit- he’s never ever been that sort of acrobat.
How can DC being doing this having Blackest Night and all these Batman series’ launching at the same time. I am already broke as a joke.
Looking at the interior artwork, I must say Damian’s Robin costume is a lot more similar to Tim’s compared to the cover picture of Damian/Robin.
So very amped for the Bats titles in the next few months! Grant’s B&R is sure to be great, but I’m mostly excited for Red Robin and Azrael(!!! — Get Frazer Irving involved, guys).
I’m really impressed by the art onto Batwoman…
As for ‘Red Robin’, if he’s on a quest to find Bruce Wayne, well…maybe that’s Dick Grayson under the cape, he’s the closer to react like this. Cool idea to me !
ok so .. heres a theory:
dick is the new bat.
blackest night comes along ….
the black hand brings back his family and he has to fight against he dead family + bruce
while this is happening, there is a battle over bruce’s soul.
its going to hurt seeing bruce being evil … but ill get over it as long as it ends with bruce comming back
To have battle for Bruce’s soul you should have Bruce dead, which he’s not.
Maybe they’ll reanimate that Batman corpse without Bruce’s soul? (Given he’s kickin’ it with Anthro)
So they changed the Robin costumes color scheme to be more like Tim’s and thus less interesting and original. And they edited Dustin Nguyens art so that Batman’s buckle matches the one by Quitely. Hmmmm…very odd.
how is bruce not dead? in our time he is dead. like idk how much more proof you need. superman holding batmans fryed body in his hands .. but the thing with that is, what dark seid used shud not of killed him … hmm idk
its difficult to say what WILL happen
The Detective/Batwoman art is incredible.
I agree with Sector 2814, DC is going to bleed me dry.
I’m glad Judd Winick is back with DC! GOTHAM CITY SIRENS sounds awesome! And make Barbara Batgirl again - PUH-LEASE!
