Just a quick housekeeping reminder, and a few TEEN TITANS #71 pages

By Alex Segura

We’ll be closing up shop a little early this afternoon. Every now and again we get this thing called a “Summer Friday.” Just means we can jet a bit early and enjoy the weekend. I’m all for it.

Additionally, the DC offices will be closed on Monday, celebrating Memorial Day. Alas, this means no blogging will be happening. Try not to cry.

But, in our continued efforts to keep you entertained, here are a few pages from TEEN TITANS #71. In the aftermath of the “Deathtrap” crossover, the team picks up the pieces as Ravager returns — but is she friend or foe?

TEEN TITANS #71 hits 5/27. Have a great weekend!

    Looks good.

I agree, even if this is just a transition issue its going pretty well so far.

I was bummed at first when I was expecting Bennett’s pencils, but Cinar’s work is good. I’m also stunned how much I love this unexpected lineup of Titans, and how McKeever has me really feeling for this group of underdogs and former low lifes. To date my favorite Titan is Wonder Girl, but it’s interesting to see how the “cool kid” is the minority among the freaks & geeks (though Cassie would never see it like this or at the very least admit it). Good show TEEN TITANS staff!

First up, we need a Kid Devil/Red Devil (what you will) back post-haste; Eddy is being put through the ringer of the “Psylocke” effect (reboot, after reboot, after reboot in an Exorcist head-spinning frequency). Heroes with demonic origins are far too intriguing to be put on the sidelines, spandex and horns no where in sight.

Secondly, at the risk of sounding overly misongynistic, Bombshell, Miss Martian, and Aquagirl must leave the building, preferably in pieces (and lots of them!)

Dream “Teen Titans” line-up: Kid Devil (who doesn’t love a little Satan?), Blue Beetle (quipping machine), Kid Flash (hyperactive wild child), Superboy (gotta have a brooding Teen hearthrob), Teen Lantern (a teenage male, perhaps with an addiction to Hydrocodone, with one of the most powerful weapons in the galaxy…a goldmine of three dimensional Freudian slips waiting to occur), and of course, there would be Cassie.

Dream “Titans” line-up: Tim Drake as Red Robin, Wally West (as some variant of The Flash), Tempest (woefully underused since he put away the Aqua Lad Speedo; maybe he can re-buy it from whomever he sound it to on E-bay), Donna Troy, Looker (sorry, Raven, but thanks to the “Twilight” films, vampires are way cool), and Beast Boy.

Sorry, but I’m not a Cyborg fan; if I were writing the book, I’d have him thrown into an industrial wood-chipper and be used as spare parts for a nuclear-fueled volkswagen hippe van driven by The Joker.

I am so glad Static is in the mainstream DCU if only he was in Geoff Johns run on the book. I would have died and gone to heaven

I just love the idea of Static and Kid Eternity in the team…They’re hope of a new kind of stories. I couldn’t wished more…and I love also Bombshell, Miss Martian and Aquagirl…
I’m actually very glad there’s no Supermanbatmanflash variants in the team and the one who have to leave should be WonderGirl…
I very much enjoy DC team without the trinity most iconic figures, it’s kinda..relaxing…’know what I mean ?

The Teen Lantern concept is very interesting by the way…

  8. ian33407 says on :

‘ (…) and the one who have to leave should be WonderGirl ‘

well, she can die, that’s okay too.

Good to know the end to DeathTrap > Vigilante blinds Jericho.

  10. Firebolt says on :

The Teen Lantern idea was tossed out in an Early issue of Geoff Johns run on Teen Titans wasn’t it? When the JLA fought the Teen Titans. Still, as much as I LOVE Green Lantern/Green Lantern Corp, that’s plenty Green Lantern. I’d rather not have the Green Lanterns over used like Marvel did with Wolverine.

I love the GL corps too, and very much the ideas of having differents characters : Stewart, Gardner, Kyle…but you’re right, too much is too much.
