Wow. Its interesting that so many comic readers are so catty. That being said, I will toss in my two cents here:
- Judd Winnick. Mr. Winnick is an interesting writer. The Red Hood arc he wrote was great and very entertaining! I will grant you that the reason Jason is back was a bit weak, but the story as a whole was tremendous and tied in with Hush very well. I was excited he was added as writer for the Batman series. And I think that his first issue back supported my excitement. As happy as I am with Judd's return, I am a bit sad for his departure when the great Tony Daniel takes over.
- Tony Daniel. Mr. Daniel did a great job with Battle for the Cowl. His art was stellar as usual. I was glad someone brought back Black Mask, even if it is not the sadistic villain that I loved from before (the mystery as to who it is is wonderful). The BftC story was very large and very difficult to cram into 3 issues. He did very well doing so (the action was mind-blowing), brought in some emotional resonance in a very difficult time for these characters and set-up future storylines and pay-offs (from the BftC teasers as well as from issues themselves). The art with the Two-Face Batman is the major case-in-point here. Bravo Tony and I am glad you are back with a longer arc to work with.
- Grant Morrison. Mr. Morrison's run on Batman was great and very inventive. Excellent new characters and bringing back characters of old is wonderful. People who don't like thinking and reading between the lines do not seem to like Mr. Morrison's work. Which is unfortunate. And the Batman & Robin book is great so far.

I am sure someone will have fun cutting apart my opinions here, but I could give a crap about what others think about my opinions. As long as they keep the quality as high as it has been, I will keep buying and reading.

And will peeps stop b!tching about Bruce? Dear lord, he's' coming back!

We know he's coming back. It's one of the few things we KNOW WILL HAPPEN in the DCU. We may not know how or how soon, but for now enjoy the story possibilities! It's like how we KNOW Clark's coming back to earth. We don't know how, we kind of know when but it's a definite that we will not be staying of earth, he's coming back. It's no different with Bruce.

No way, Tony's awesome. BFTC was a difficult line to judge a writer on... we all knew it was going to be Dick from the beginning AND he had to set up other people's story lines, but not dictate them (Batman, in all it's titles, has been and will be for the next year Morisson's baby, for good or bad). In all honesty, judge him after this line where he gets six issues to weave a story where you don't know the run's result before you get the first issue in your hand.

Wow, even in these comments that are usually filled with love, this isn't well recieved. And it shouldn't be, because Daniel is AWFUL as a writer. Battle for the Cowl was just plain brutal. What a terrible decision. Guess I'll be saving a couple bucks a month.

I loved Battle for the Cowl personally. I felt it was very well written too (especially after the abomination known as Grant Morrison got his hands on the bat). I'm really excited to see Two Face return to a Face the Face type sequel(or so it seems).

But the big question here (that everyone failed to answer) is "What's the Joker's take on things?!" Really man!?! Superman dies and Luthor is making statements all over the place everytime. Batman dies and the one villian who should have the best reaction to the news is absolutely absent. Joker should have at least have been mentioned in B4C or Batman or Batman&Robin or ANYWHERE!!!

Ouch, apparently i'm not only one who thinks that BftC was like some leftover from 90th with messy plotting, poor characterizations and astonishingly bad dialogs ("Temper your temper", for eff's sake). I like Tony's art, but writing... no, thanks.

What I've read of Judd's has been pretty lack-lustre, so having TSD come aboard is great news. Still, I'll be buying all these issues so let's hope Winick can put together a good arc.

And good to see the Two-Face-Bats from the 'I Am Batman' poster again :)

First, Bruce Wayne does need to appear in the Batman books. There is no substitute. Not even with Dick Grayson as Batman.

Second, Battle for the Cowl was great thanks to Tony Daniel. Tony Daniel is a very talented writer and artist and I'm looking forward to more. Good move, DC!

Now let Tony actually write Bruce, OK?

Wow, that's some crazy news. I don't really like Winick's work, so I'm not that heart broken, but overall I thought he'd get more than 6 issues to play with.

Well im not.
I enjoyed BFTC and i think with more issues and a little more freedom Daniel could do a real good job. It probably not going to be to deepest book but the action could be off the wall, and that sounds good to me. Plus his art is always first class. So, im definitely going to pick this up.

Well im not.
I enjoyed BFTC and i think with more issues and a little more freedom Daniel could do a real good job. It probably not going to be to deepest book but the action could be off the wall, and that sounds good to me. Plus his art is always first class. So, im definitely going to pick this up.

For the record Tony Daniel is a pretty lousy writer, I'm really disappointed with DC for this decision.

I think this is a shame, because Judd's first issue is the first one written by him that I've truly enjoyed in years...I really thought he was on to something. Here's to him continuing that trend for this arc.

Also, love the art, Tony. Hoping you've got a great story to tell.

I just wish there would be more consistency on a flagship title such as Batman. Stick with Winick and Daniel for a year. That's all needed. I think that after BFTC, it was pretty clear that Tony needs a writer.
