Unveiling Booster Gold’s #1 fan – Blair Butler

Day one is almost complete here in lovely San Diego, and what’s a day at SDCC without some kind of news? Not just any news, either, but something fun and involving one of comics’ biggest fans and supporters.

As you probably saw on G4 already, we debuted the final cover to BOOSTER GOLD #23, revealing just who Booster’s #1 fan really is.

Who is it? Well, none other than Blair Butler, co-host or correspondent or Fresh Ink Host from G4’s Attack of the Show and an all-around comic book fan. So, before we collapse in a heap from just a partial day of con madness, we’ve got the cover to the issue right here. Thanks to Blair for being such a good sport.

And while there can only be one #1 fan, you can show your support in t-shirt form. Our friends at Graphitti Designs will be selling shirts with this very cover emblazoned on it right here at the con. Our President and Publisher, Paul Levitz, got the chance to present Blair with her very own “BOOSTER GOLD FAN CLUB” shirt yesterday, as the photo below attests.

Well, what are you waiting for? And no, I won’t buy one for you.

Uh…how is she the #1 Booster Gold fan?

  2. querldox says on :

That isn’t Ted Kord, your argument is invalid

  3. spookysage says on :

Just the kind of endorsement Booster himself would approve of. Some chick popular with the geek crowd? Now there’s the kind of “number one fan” you can put in a curve-hugging t-shirt and slap on a magazine cover!

  4. Ricardo says on :

Yeah, gimme a Ted Kord #1 fan and we’ll talk more about it.

  5. embee says on :

Yeah, where can I buy one of those t-shirts please?

Was she even alive when Booster debuted? Does she know who Trixie Collins or Skip Andrews is or what Reilleau Towers are? What is the significance of the corner of Lincoln and W 53 St.? Where is her room dedicated to Booster, painted with his colors and featuring his Star design? Celebrity endorsements are awesome, but I’d like to know how she won the title of number one fan. Until then, I’m still considering myself to hold the honor.

Really. How dare DC reach out to some talk show host to get publicity. I’d expect this type of bush league shenanigan from Marvel. But DC? Plus it’s some type of attractive looking woman. Makes me sick I tells ya, makes me sick. And then to actually see this shirt with it’s hyperbole about being Booster’s fan? I may buy this shirt and wear it when I pick up this issue with it’s libelous cover.

Grr, I’m just so sickened by this obvious attempt to sell a book based on it’s cover.

Congrats to Blair Butler! How many people can say they’ve been immortalized on a cover of a comic book? I think it’s great publicity for Booster Gold, and a nice acknowledgment that women do indeed read superhero comics.

  10. querldox says on :

I don’t think its that PinkPeril, its just as much enticing male readers by putting a pretty woman on the cover. Booster Gold is though the most female friendly title DC has. I’ve never seen this girl in my life.

Why did they change the sleeves and neckline on the shirt. It looks sooo much better without the blue :-(
