Talk about an odd couple: RED ROBIN and Ra’s team up

Thursday, August 6th, 2009

By Alex Segura

Well, you heard the RED ROBIN news, so why not check out some pages hitting stores next week?

Writer Chris Yost and artist Ramon Bachs continue “The Grail” with part 3, as Red Robin continues his quest to find Bruce Wayne. But to get the answers he seeks, Red Robin has to go through the Global Guardian known as the Wild Huntsman. Making things a tad trickier, he’s got an unexpected sidekick — Ra’s Al Ghul. And if that’s not enough, the issue also reveals Tim Drake’s actions immediately after BATTLE FOR THE COWL.

RED ROBIN #3 hits 8/12.

Certainly don’t like the look of the art, but I’ll definitely pic it up for an appearance of Wonder Girl! PS: Where are her bracelets?! ~ Hype

Tim Drake is so out of character in this series to this point that I figure he’s either a) Drugged b) Hypnotized c) some other type of mind control or d) the new writer has never read an issue of the last Robin series.

Someone needs to take Chris Yost and tell him that Tim Drake is not a not a brooding anti hero. He’s someone who has lost a lot but the best thing about Tim is his resilience. I will say Yost has done well in terms of making Tim question himself, however this series has been way too much whining and Tim not being any kind of detective at all. Especially when you compare it to the rest of the Bat-Verse. I really hope they don’t destroy Tim with this awful writing and understanding of his character, drop Yost and let him crawl back to Marvel and his precious X-Men, Give Tim to someone who knows how to write a mystery.

I agree that it is too big a jump from where he was before Red Robin, but I’m still enjoying it.

Can’t wait for the new artist, but I can deal with this.
