Well, you’ll have to wait until 8/19 for more clues. But, we do have a first look at interiors from the first issue, by writer Bryan Q. Miller and artist Lee Garbett, plus a variant cover by Cully Hamner. Nice way to start the week, huh?
Start your guessing!

[...] giving us a lot more hints than Marvel has regarding a certain red-skinned monstrosity. Through the DC Universe: The Source blog, we’ve already seen several preview images, and today they’re giving us a look at [...]
The artwork looks sweet but I’ll still consider the series a major disappointment if it’s anyone but Cassandra Wayne (Cain?) under the cowl.
We already have Tim Wayne (Drake?) acting totally out of character over in Red Robin, and Cassandra would never willingly give up the cowl. She’d consider it to be a dishonor to Batman’s legacy… and killing her off would really suck.
Oh well, I’ll just have to wait and see, even a fake Batgirl is better than no Batgirl at all and right now there’s an empty Nightwing suit Cassandra could fill.
I long thought it was Steph but the ‘boys are stupid’ line reminds me of no-one. Guess we have to keep waiting into yet another decade for the proper Batgirl to resume her place in the DCU
I’m NOT a Stephanie Brown fan …

It looks a little silly, even for a comic book!
I wouldn’t mind seeing Cassandra as Nightwing, it would be a huge improvement over Chris Kent. However, Cassandra and Grayson didn’t really get along in her last mini series.
But hey, help us talk about the issue here:

Hey, its the first 5 pages of the book! No one said that’s the new Batgirl…
It’s already been confirmed that there is a new costume.
I’ve been hoping against hope that Bette Kane was finally going to get some attention and become Batgirl, but I understand that’s a very unlikely possibility. Unless DC pulls a complete surprise, I’m probably going to do nothing more than page through this book at the store, as I really have no interest in most of the other candidates everyone one else prefers (except Barbara Gordon, but I prefer her as Oracle than Batgirl).
[...] big thanks to DC’s The Source for giving us some previews of Batgirl #1. The art looks great and the previews don’t give us [...]
Cass is the only one who could truly live up to Batman’s legacy.
The only one who can carry on the Batgirl legacy is Barbara Gordon. So, it makes sense that this new Batgirl is Charlie, her protege from Birds of Prey. I can’t wait to hear Batgirl scream, “Dark Vengence!”
The dialogue sounds more like Steph than Cassandra, but I still prefer it being Cassandra.
Heh, so much for DC’s plan to “diversify” the DCU if it’s not Cassandra but some run of the mill plain Jane caucasian chick (as it’s strongly implying here) under that cape and cowl now.
I suppose if Cassandra doesn’t apparently “sell” the numbers that DC are wanting for their Batgirl character then you have to find another that can (but exactly who can better even Bruce himself in the ancient practice of martial arts then Cassandra? *Blinks*) I would’ve said that the “all new” Batgirl would be Bette Kane but recent SDCC had DiDio ruling her out so that makes me think it’s either Stephanie/Spoiler or Bab’s protege Charlie as the most likely candidates instead. :/
I’m sticking with multiple Batgirls. Cassandra, Stephanie, Misfit, etc.
Wait, does it come out this week or next week?
I agree with just about everyone who commented. The dialogue is kinda weak, and if Cassandra isn’t Batgirl then she’d be one hot Nightwing.
It comes out 8/19. I edited the post to clarify. Sorry for the confusion!
Ok, thanks!

Just getting back into DC, and this hasn’t been spoiled for me yet. like Garbett’s art on this too.
