Levitz returns to the 30th Century

By David Hyde

You may have heard that Paul Levitz will be once again adding his considerable talent, drive and creativity to our ever expanding universe as a regular DC Comics writer.

So, what’s his first writing assignment?

Paul is returning to the title he made great as both a writer and editor, ADVENTURE COMICS, and with his eyes set to the future, he brings several of his favorite characters with him. ADVENTURE is the first in a number of projects, both ongoing and mini-series that Paul will be taking on as he joins of our list of top notch creators here at DC.

As Executive Editor, and as a fan, I can’t wait for him to get started.

I could have sworn J. Michael Straczynski was going to take over the book. Oh well this is cool too.

Excellent news! Now, he would be joined by Giffen or Steve Lightle….

Yes… Yes… Yes! This could not be better news. Long live the Legion, Paul!

So will Legion be the cover story? I hope so. 8 pages is fine for Superboy but for a legion of characters,no.

    This is cool.

I am worried as to what is going to happen with Superboy though.

I love both the Legion and Superboy. I think they should each have their own series and not be sharing one unless its Superboy AND the Legion in one story.

YES! WOOT!!! My sincerest congratulation to you on ‘coming home’ to us Legion fans again, Paul! BD

Doc Bane: DC already tried this Pre-Waid/Kitson LOSH title run era but Kon just ended up rejoining our 21st Century era Teen Titans in the end. :/

I buy the book for Conner. I’ll stick around if he’s a co-feature but I’d rather see him as the lead. That doesn’t sound like it is going to happen. Conner and the Legion have been tied together enough lately that combining the two into a single feature, especially if it gets the page count of the lead-feature and co-feature combined, could work really well.

Still, I’m wary, and not considering the changes to Adventure to be good news at all.

Talos1: I know. It was the Legion I was first introduced to and my favourite. :)

Heffison: I buy Adventure for Kon as well, but I do dig the Legion as well, so I will continue to pick up the book anyway. I just hope Kon doesn’t get lost in the shuffle. Mind you, I wouldn’t mind if he just joined the Teen Titans again.

This is the best comics news I’ve heard in a long time! Congratulations to Paul Levitz on making the big life decision to return to writing. Like many, I’m a lifelong LSH fan so it goes without saying that this made my day. This is the kind of news that would have been perfect for last year’s 50th anniversary of the Legion. :-)

    Hey Paul,

How about a return to Earth-2 Huntress stories?

Here’s a link to Huntress: Dark Knight Daughter

No disrespect to Mr. Levitz, but… For me his editorial ruling is quite welcome but his decision to return to writer’s duties is… well…
Chris Claremont, John Byrne, Marv Wolfman, Jim Starlin, etc, etc, etc. I can’t recall if any of legends of 70-80-s had wrote anything readable for a long time. Horrendous dialogs and 20-years old cliches. Seems that’s the only things I can surely expect from them.
And based on Paul’s JSA arc I fully expect to see how another legend is crapping all over his name by producing abysmal products. And that’s realy sad show. ‘Though will be glad to be proven wrong.

    Nostalgia factor is sooo overrated.

i cant wait for levitz’s go at the legion. it’s been a long time coming for this team, and they need the one man who can guide this team right. now,if only we can get either of these 2 artists to work w/him on legion, then all will be well:

    mike grell
    steve lightle
