STREETS OF GOTHAM artist Dustin Nguyen gets downright pastoral on the variant cover to SUPERMAN: WORLD OF NEW KRYPTON #10, from writers James Robinson and Greg Rucka with artist Pete Woods. Nothing I write here can really do it much justice, beyond saying it’s a fine piece of work. So why not scroll down and see for yourself?
SUPERMAN: WORLD OF NEW KRYPTON #10 hits in December.

That’s the most human-looking, relatable Superman I’ve seen in a long time. I’d love to see the character be updated this way across all books. He’s been too generic, too bland, too Reeve(s)-ish for far too long. Besides that, this is beautiful work.
Dustin’s work is simply amazing, every time.
Dustin Nguyen reminds me a lot of (but probably on his way to surpassing) the best of Mike Mignola’s earlier work (circa: Gotham by Gaslight). He just keeps getting better and is one of the few artists that I’ll take a second read of a book for, just to examine each page he draws. His SUPERMAN doesn’t compare to his BATMAN but it is still a beautiful picture.
I’ll have to pass on this variant cover for WONK. Superman doesn’t wear his costume when he’s on New Krypton, but it is a nice image I guess…he just has weird looking nose and ears to me in this picture.
As far as variant covers go - Eddy Barrows variant #6 of WONK was my favorite. And, I love all of his work on Darkest Night. He is my number one favorite artist of Superman and Superboy (Konner). I would love if he took over on ADVENTURE COMICS
Gorgeous!
I love Dustin’s style. Its so soft
it’s gorgeous
Big fan of Nguyen. I’m looking forward to seeing him at Emerald City Comic Con this year.
