By Alex Segura

Writer Geoff Johns and artist Gary Frank’s exploration of the origin of the greatest Super Hero of all time continues, as readers witness young Clark Kent’s initial journey into the late 30th century as Superboy, and also see how meeting the Legion of Super-Heroes shapes the Man of Steel he will one day become. Plus, a dash of young Lex.

SUPERMAN: SECRET ORIGIN #2 hits 10/28. Enjoy some pages below.

HaHa! This looks GREAT! makes me feel like a kid again.

…but, why is Brainiac-5 looking so scowlingly in the background, on the cover(s)?
I guess I’ll have to read it tomorrow to find out.

One request, Mr. Levitz, when you take over the Legion helm. Brin Londo/Timber Wolf is currently being drawn as a middle aged man. Please, return him to his former glory. Out of love for Ayla, he sacrificed his wolf-like appearance way back in Legion #284.

We saw a return to that appearance in “The Lightning Saga”, and he looked incredible. (If only Ed Benes could draw The Legion forever!) Here’s an image. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2316/2227568674_3724b01c19.jpg?v=0
Now, that’s how Brin is supposed to look; please restore him to his former awesomeness!

    Sincerely,
    Clayton

I love Garth’s ‘Glee’ face. Dorktastic! As for Brainy he’s probably just annoyed they brought the wrong super-cousin LOL

querldox: I honestly hope that Kal has at least a flash back of Kara baby sitting him during their time on Krypton myself. ;)

Question: does any one else think the drunk behind the wheel is actually Lionel Luthor talking about Lex and Lena (his son and daughter) from last issue Superboy’s rescuing here? :/

I gotta say I really enjoyed issue 1. I’m a huge fan of Byrne’s Man of Steel origin so I was nervous about this Infinite Crisis revamp but other than the lameass sunstone crystals (curse you, Richard Donner!) I thought issue one really hit the mark. Looking forward to the entire run.

That’s true Querldox…Brainy was crushing on Kara big-time back in the day, and I guess even his Earth-Prime counter-part had a crush on her too. But, this is the Earth-0 Legion…so, time will tell I guess.

I am torn now between the variant cover and the first one - the original cover is very “iconic” and the variant cover is really good too…I like that Garth’s joyous leap and Kal’s pose better on that cover.

the faces still look erie to me… I want to get in to this but the faces, little clark’s in particular look like a cross between Reeves and “Children of the Corn”… (shudder)…

I couldn’t put my finger on the relationship between Brainy and Kara in the threeboot. Obviously they were going with Brainy/Nura but I liked the antagonistic quality they gave Kara/Brainy. At times I thought they were doing the ‘two totally different people that butt heads but secretly are attracted’ thing. And then there was toward the end when she made him her deputy and spent hours training with him which confused me due to the prior antagonism. Then Kara was booted and Shooter came on and he totally changed Querl to the sickeningly smitten sex god with none of the wit or strength he had before. I have to say I do adore the Levitz interpretation of Kara/ Brainy and if I had to choose a boyfriend for her I would say Brainy in a heartbeat. None of this Captain Marvel Jr nonsense, bring back beauty and the geek.
