Happy Monday, Source gang. It’s been a while since we updated you on the Wonder Woman #600 postcard tally, mostly because we’ve been inundated by the response from fans. And while we’re holding off on giving you the final number, I do want to let you know that we’re ending the call for postcards. So, if you got to send one, great. If not, the gig is up.
And I know what the next question is — “Did we make it?” Well, we’re not telling yet. And I know what the question after that will be — “If we did make it, will the numbering go back to #600?” We’re not telling there, either. But rest assured we’ll have some interesting news for you in the coming weeks. Many thanks to all that participated, and stay tuned.

I still say the best way to eat the cake and have it too is to simply bill the issue in question as the 500th issue, and then go back to the regular numbering.

600th issue vinniebartilucci and ya I agree with u. Back to regular numbering and a big story between that one and the 50th issue of vol 3 a few months later
What a bunch of a-holes. Didio said “if we get 600 postcards, we’ll change the numbering.” Now they’re going to make us think that even if they did receive 600, they won’t keep their word?
Oh well, it probably won’t matter anyway since Diana is clearly going to die in Blackest Night.
Whether it ends up getting renumbered or not, I don’t think that should be the most important thing. I think that they need to focus on ensuring that the stories for WW are getting better. I can’t say that there really is anything going on in that book that makes me want to follow either it or the rest of the WW family. I mean in both the Superman & Batman families there is soo much going on & it’s mostly engaging & keeps you coming back. But WW & Donna Troy and Wonder Girl there is never really much going on with these characters. I think they need to rebuild her relevence in the DCU cause at this point I’m more intereted in what PG is doing than with what’s going on with Diana.
BTW in my opinion I think that they should renumber it like they did Adventure have the new number with the original numbering in the background….Just my opinion…
#1 Not telling us is not “suspenssful” and generating interest. It’s pissing off the loyal fans who sent the damn postcards just to try and convince DC to do the right thing.
#2 If I had a nickle for every time I was promised “interesting news”… boy would I have a large nickle collection.
#3 If DC doesn’t change to 600 and stay there, it’s a gigantic, enormous middle finger to fans. Actually it’s a second gigantic, enormous middle finger. The first won was making us do this in the first place….
I agree with pookdogg - renumber it the way ADVENTURE COMICS is doing with the original number in the background.
This will be a nightmare for collectors ten or twenty years from now…my SUPERMAN collection is still messed up from that 227-issue run of the 1987 title that ran until 2006. And the ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN that swtiched back over to the first SUPERMAN series, which started number at issue #650…ugh, just typing it and trying to think about it gives me a brain-spasm!
@pookdogg so you are one of those rare people who doesn’t get what Gail Simone is doing with Diana? My opinion is that it is the best written and drawn book out there in the DCU. When Lopresti is off Chang does a stellar job. It has a great art team and Gail writes her ass off every issue with fantastic and relevant stories…and yes she deserves more titles. However I am with you on dual numbering and mix it around on a variant
This is the dumbest promotion ever. Seriously, do you guys just sit around thinking up stupid ways to generate interest like this? I mean come on, asking 600 post cards for the renumbering to happen TEN MONTHS before that issue even hits, it’s not even an issue to collect that many in that amount of time.
Should you even come back and say, “Sorry, we didn’t get enough,” with that amount of time left, or pull something stupid and say, “We’re going to do the double numbering like we’re doing with Adventure Comics, best of both worlds LOL,” then this entire thing was a farce so Didio could stroke his damn ego.
It is NOT issue 600, nor should it be labeled as such. I can’t really understand why people care so much about giving the book false numbering. The number can’t “revert” to something it never was. When you try to “count up” all the series it just makesthings more confusing and complicated for collecters. It’s just a numhber. Who really cares if it’s low or high? The thing that matters most is the content, and boy, is that some good stuff right now. Thanks Gail!
Here’s an interesting tid-bit. Superboy, his first-appearance was in MORE FUN COMICS issue #101 in 1945 - this January/February (since that is when the issue of MORE FUN COMICS was printed) will be his 65th Anniversary. To me this is WAY MORE IMPORTANT!
…that and the fact that we can use Superboy again.
He’s my favorite; the old one and the new one.
How is DC going to celebrate this? …by removing him from his current title - ADVENTURE COMICS.
