What is the LAST STAND OF NEW KRYPTON? Well, it’s basically New Krypton’s worst nightmare come to life, as Brainiac attacks the planet, determined to recapture the city of Kandor.
But General Zod has prepared for this moment since Brainiac first attacked the original Krypton. Only problem? Zod’s plan to save New Krypton will mean the destruction of the future.
So it’s up to Superman, Supergirl, Superboy and the Legion of Super-Heroes to save the people of New Krypton and ensure the Legion won’t be wiped from the future’s existence. Good luck! Or, to quote editor Matt Idelson:
“This is the story that ties together tons of threads that have run through all the Super-books up to now, clearing the decks for the war we all knew was coming. And I don’t know about you, but I’ve been waiting months to see Brainiac restored to his full, horrific glory. And at last, we’ll get to see Superboy interact on an ongoing basis with the rest of the Superbooks’ characters.”
LAST STAND is a three-issue miniseries, weighing in at 30 story pages each, from writers James Robinson and Sterling Gates and artist Pete Woods. The first issue sports an amazing Andy Kubert cover and kicks off the latest chapter in the New Krypton saga, “Brainiac & The Legion of Super-Heroes,” which we teased right here not long ago. “Brainiac & the LOSH” is an eight-part story (plus an epilogue and a prologue) that will run in LAST STAND, SUPERGIRL, SUPERMAN, and because you demanded it, ADVENTURE COMICS. Secrets will be revealed, loyalties tested and would-be lovers will be reunited—for the first time? And, knowing that all signs are pointing to an epic WAR OF THE SUPERMEN, why not hop aboard now?
SUPERMAN: LAST STAND OF NEW KRYPTON hits in March.

first post!!!
anywho; this looks good.
hopefully this is the last we see of Brainiac for a while.
i mean i like him and all, but there are so many other villains that could also be showcased. but all in due time i suppose.
this may actually get me interested in the superman books
Wow!!!!! I was waiting for the return of Brainiac and his attempt to return Kandor to the bottle. This saga will be great!
“would-be lovers will be reunited—for the first time”
Anyone putting money on this being Mon-El and Shadow Lass?
Last we see of brainiac brik-el? we barely saw him since the Brainiac saga that geoff did awhile back and now we get to see what will prob be his last stand I for one can’t wait
I’ll happily buy anything that involves the Legion of Super-Heroes. I’m definately looking forward to this!

@kyleo71: Mon-El and Shadow Lass would be cool, but I think it’s going to be Braniac and Supergirl.
I don’t understand Brainiac’s fixation on Kandor/Argo city…there are so many cities on Earth that it seems like he would want to shrink and put in a bottle. I guess his primary focus is getting back something that was his.
I like this Superboy image better than the one we got yesterday…GO SUPERBOY!
oops! my mistake…that’s Superman!
…I’m just all caught up in Superboy right now LOL!
I jumped on after Codename: Patriot. Anywho, I’m reall looking foward to this.
@meisterlegion: ah! I hadn’t thought about them. I wonder if they’ll ever add the current continuity Supergirl into the original Legion continuity because the current pre-Zero Hour Brainiac 5 is too old for this current teen-aged Supergirl. I think it would be neat for a Supergirl arc to have her meet the original 60s Adventure Legion and join them, putting all her adventures with the Legion back into continuity, but they haven’t happened to her yet.

‘would-be lovers will be reunited—for the first time?’
This is going to be uncomfortable, hilarious and romantic at the same time. aww…querl. I would like to see the same thing happen with shady too
@ jorel1983;
of the major crossovers of post-crisis superman brainiac has been in a lot. im just saying that we’ve seen brainiac a bunch.
Panic in the Sky = Brainiac
Dead Again = Brainiac
Y2K = Brainiac 13
Our Worlds At War = Brainiac
and now this
Im still excited though and i know this will still be kick ass.
Let me preface this by saying that I love Superman, the New Krypton storyline, and the World of New Krypton maxi-series. And I think the Last Stand storyline looks awesome. But…
What the heck, man?! Are you telling me that after a year of the WONK storyline, I have to wait even longer to see it finished? DC couldn’t weave Last Stand into WONK? I’m going to have to buy another 3-issue series to see the story resolved?
I’m a little put out that this wasn’t the climax to the current series. It seems like a natural conclusion to the story I have been reading for over a year.
I guess I’ll have to wait a bit longer….
I second reaper2k’s post, but with a less fond appreciation of the New Krypton story line.
This sounds a lot more exciting than “War of the Supermen.” At least we know Conner will definitely be involved in this. Down side: they’re spreading it over more titles than I want to keep track of to follow one story. I’ll be waiting to see how this breaks down between the various books, and probably “limit my exposure.”

I’m glad that the biggest band on Earth is getting involved in the stuff with New Krypton. Superman… meet DETHKLOK! Oh, this isn’t a Metalocalypse crossover? What’s up with the Death Metal “I’m a skull parrot” Brainiac-o-drome, then?
…All joking aside, this looks good.
Grats to brik-el for all the references on Brainiac appearances, but… dude, he’s an important bad guy, and those stories are all YEARS apart… I mean, Y2K was surprisingly almost 10 years ago, and OWAW? Well that was a long time ago, too! It’s not like we’ve had Brainiac shoved down our throats, he’s just a BIG threat, so he comes by when there are equally big threats present.
Tenzil Kem for Predident!
shoot! President! My bad!
I have LOVED this series and this really looks cool. I can’t wait for these issues. I wish people would stop complaining because you cannot please everyone so just enjoy the comics
It used to take only one book to tell a story. {sigh} As a decades-long Legion fan, who’s nonetheless delighted at their being in such a mega-tale, I’m dismayed.
The ping-pong of the recent “Lightning Saga,” going between “JLA” and “JSA,” was bad enough. Now, a story of greater scope yet is to be spread through one miniseries AND three regular titles?
I’m getting dizzy. It’s no wonder that the Legion isn’t adding many new fans, when it’s this much of a moving reading target. And when appearances in several ongoing Superfamily titles will affect how the “visiting story” is told — for they each have their own casts and plot lines.
Nobody plans their pull list this way, unless they’re flush with enough cash to take on all four such titles. And those, like me, who don’t buy enough to have a pull box are going to be utterly lost by the time this is over.
Try being innovative, DC. Make it actually a bit simpler for fans to follow such an effort, would you? Perhaps in placing that narrative firepower at the service of a new, ongoing Legion title. You could actually cultivate some new readers for that franchise.
I’m loving everything Superman these days!
I’ve loved everything Superman related sinced I was two years old. This looks like it could be awesome, I’m just waiting patiently for Superman’s permanent return to Earth, defending Metropolis as he’s done for the last 70 plus years.
Who is the guy fighting Brainiac?
Seriously, who can keep track of Kal-El, Con-El, Mon-El and Zod-El (or whatever that kid’s name is)? They all look the same.
