AS: OK, I’m more awake now. Lunch does that to me. Are there any other DCU books that will be under the BRIGHTEST DAY banner?

DD: JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA will also feature the banner, starting with April’s #44, but the characters that will be joining the team are still very much under wraps. Sorry, I’m usually not this secretive in the afternoon. Hope you understand.

AS: No worries, Dan. But I do have one more question before we wrap things up. Cool?

DD: Sure, but not right now

AS: OK, we’ll come back at 3pm. See you then.

Nice to see the Justice Society are back together again on that cover

  2. chadwhitley says on :

Well, I’ll need to know the team members before I decide if I’m interested. I’m leaning toward “no,” though. So I issue a challenge to Dan DiDio and the folks at DC:

Amaze me with the line-up. I dare you.

  3. vinniebartilucci says on :

Hm. Starfire is conspicuously absent from that cover. Or is she?

More interestingly, that cover seems to feature the JSA All-Stars. So we’ll be getting a JLA/JSA team-up after all. H’ray.

This is one of those things that’s always bugged me about DiDio: the non-news announcement. What did we get here? JLA will be part of Brightest Day. Hardly worth all the build-up. If you trust the product you’re putting out to be appealing to the market, give the prospective customers the goods. Holding it back and teasing it without saying anything to try to build up anticipation comes off like a film that isn’t screened for critics before release. When Morrison took over JLA, promotion was: “Morrison” “big guns” “original 7″. That got people talking. “JLA will be part of yet another company wide event shoe-horning your favorite title into a year long story”, I’m sorry, isn’t exciting. I know how negative I’m being. I’d rather not be, but so far this isn’t big, exciting news. Maybe I’m just jaded.

  11. Riz says on :

Could DC please finally decide which costume Jesse is wearing in the future? In Rebirth she switches to her dad’s costume. In JSA she’s still wearing her mom’s costume…

  12. capmarvelfan says on :

I guess that answers the question of “will there be a JLA/JSA teamup” sometime again?

In addition to Starfire being absent, so is Dr. Light remember. And on the JSA side you have Lightning. There’s three different potentially glowing characters that could be represented by that central chracter. Or it could be someone completely different.

What has me slightly surprised is seeing Jesse in a costume more like the Jesse Quick version, rather than her Liberty Belle outfit. I know she has access to her speed powers again, but she’s held onto using her mom’s ID rather than her dad’s.

@Buro - The JSA Magog always had a missing right eye.

  13. dickgrayson4life says on :

I’ve been trying to think of a character who has a connection to both teams but I’m drawing a blank. Starfire would be the obvious choice assuming she even joins the team considering her feeling for Dick Grayson. If it were her the transformation to a white glow would be sensible since she is powered by the sun and possibly playing a role in the Blackest Night finale.

On a different note DD, it’s time to step outside of the box with Dick Grayson. Having him lead a younger JLA/Titans team would be too predictable but placing him on the JSA as a legacy hero would be more exciting considering that this continuities JSA never had a Batman.

  14. Zawisza says on :

Return of the New Gods? Just a guess, and certainly an “event” that would be worthy of a JLA/JSA powwow.

  15. ryaztek says on :

    Just one word:

    AQUAMAN and TEMPEST!

    ok that’s 3…

  16. meisterlegion says on :

    @burro787 - HaHaHa - I noticed Magog’s eyeball too - it’s popping out of his head.

@vinniebartilucci - the only thing an artist can love better than drawing Starfire is drawing Power Girl…but, I agree - more Starfire.

BUT, the BIG thing I noticed: OBSIDIAN (the DCU’s resident, token Gay Super-Hero) is out of the black box he was trapped in and in physical form! Thank you Mr. Robinson for hearing the fans outcry and putting this hero back in action!!

the New JLA is going to be an amazing team book it appears.

  17. aquafanatic says on :

Wait….Don’t we have a team that gets introduced an issue or 2 earlier? Mon-El, Batman, Donna Troy, Cyborg, Starfire, Gl, GA, Dr. Light, Congorilla, Guardian?!?!

AWESOME to see a JLA/JSA team-up. Bagleys art though….Never liked his work on team books.

  18. wildclaw says on :

Donna’s got a mistake on her costume. Upper arm bands are missing. It’s so common and you’d think they’d watch for these little glitches. Also PG’s boots are wrong. I thought we were going with the Amanda Conner outfit officially now. Yes I felt Starfire was gone all white phoenix or perhaps this is Dove which would be cool. Would love to see her in JLA as J.T. Krul made her so important in BN Titans

  19. JLA/JSA Team-Up « JSA Round Table says on :

[...] the slew of Brightest Day announcements at The Source today is news that Justice League of America #44 will carry a Brightest Day banner. Not much is said about who will be on the team at that point or what the story will be about. [...]

  20. thecoyotegospel says on :

I’m so torn — Do I drop JLA because Robinson is taking a dump all over characters that I love, or do I keep reading it to see how many characters he kills off-panel and ruins through unreadable dialogue? I don’t want to contribute money to this monster!

  21. dave3k says on :

What time is it now? I need another update

I don’t live in the USA, so my time is different..

  22. aquafanatic says on :

I bet the next announcement is that Bruce Wayne is returning….lol

I wonder if they will announce David Finch’s book this week? Or what other Marvel exclsuive artist will be joining Grant Morrison on Wonder Woman?

  23. meisterlegion says on :

    @ dave3k - its’ 2:52pm Eastern time…I think we’re all waiting…

  24. redraven says on :

@captobtuse - I totally agree with you. I remember when they relaunched JLA. This tells me nothing other than the line-up that Robinson introduced may now not be a part of the team. I wasn’t too impressed with this line-up to start with. It feels very thrown together. Bagley’s art on this is horrible. Go back to drawing Spidey. Robinson’s writing has been almost as bad as Winnick’s run on Titans. If things don’t improve this title will soon be dropped.

  25. daknessrevamped717 says on :

you know, i have a weird theory, maybe that is HALO, that dissapeared last month on OUTSIDES #25. she has no connection to any of both the teams, but she dissapeared during BLACKEST NIGHT, and this is BRIGHTEST DAY and they had to bring her back anyway. Outsiders #26 has not arrived yet so I’m not sue if they are gonna wait till april to show her return, but, it’s just another theory in this wild mess.

  26. hondobrode says on :

    It’s Phoenix of course !

    D’uh !

But seriously, that last guess about Halo, I like.

Looking forward to a JLA/JSA crossover again.

  27. mulanzo says on :

    It’s White Lantern Dove.
