Remember when we announced JUSTICE LEAGUE: GENERATION LOST, the new, twice-monthly series from writers Judd Winick and Keith Giffen? Well, we’ve got some more info on the book — including the all-star art team handling the visuals.
You’ve seen the cover. You’ve read the select interviews floating out there. And, I can imagine, you have some questions: What brings the old gang together? What do the likes of Winick and Giffen have in store? Not telling on either front. But I can tell you what artists will be bringing these stories to the page, two times a month. Deep breath. Go:
The first issue of the series will feature the artwork of Aaron Lopresti, who’s no stranger to DCU readers after his epic run on WONDER WOMAN with Gail Simone. We’ll be announcing more artists as we get closer to #1 hitting, so stay tuned.
But that’s not all — in addition to the lovely Tony Harris cover above (and future covers, as Tony will be handling those duties regularly), the first issue of GENERATION LOST will feature a variant cover by none other than Kevin Maguire, who’s got some experience drawing the heroes of the JLI.
Oh, and did I mention we’d have more news today? Because we will. Sit tight, folks. It’s gonna be a fun Friday.

Sorry, I don’t think that cover is lovely at all. I look forward to the book, but, woo.
Aaron Lopresti is a great choice. realy looking forward to this!
Oh, crap, variant covers again… Why don’t you just drop that and add it as a second cover or something? but it will be great seeing Kevin back where he belongs. Hopefully he will draw one of the issues…
I do really appreciate Lopresti, though I don’t read Wonder Woman. Glad to see such a solid artist attached!
I like Tony Harris’ cover. It’s a bit of movie flick and Starman’s Opal City design…
This one may have to be my “I’ll wait for the trade” book. It looks fun, but I got burned on Countdown & Trinity so I’m far more reticent about picking up these bi-weeklies.
I’m down with Brightest Day, only because I know Johns and Tomasi won’t let me down… I hope!
As for the cover… I think it’s a bit Fug.
I am so exciting for this series, and I love tony’s work so that will be awesome, though IMO booster kinda looks messed up in this cover, but oh well, bring on JL:GL! (p.s. let guy be in this too!)
Aaron Lopresti…wow this will be great.
This brings back memories of “Super-Buddies.”
BTW, there is no way to describe how jarring it is to read both Super-Buddies arcs, then read Identity Crisis (The Dibny’s), then read Countdown to Infinite Crisis (Ted Kord, Maxwell Lord), Battle for Bludhaven (Captain Atom) and Final Crisis (Mary Marvel).
All in the reading order.
I DO NOT APPRECIATE BOOSTER GOLD BEING DRAWN IN THIS MANNER!
I will not be collecting this book because it’s taking my favorite DC character and turning him into a buffoon.
If this cover art is indicative of what we’ll be seeing in this series and how the characters will look - especially Booster, I will not be picking this book up.
This needs to be fixed. It makes me want to puke!
We need Dan Jurgens on this book STAT!
…he cares about the character of Booster and won’t let this travisty happen if he’s associated with the book. Please someone hear my “cry for justice”!
@meisterlegion
Booster may have been a Dan Jurgens creation, but it was Keith and Marc who gave him a true personality. And, if you’ve been really reading BG, it’s been established he still has been seen as a bafoon for the world at large as part of his cover-up act. Moreover, Booster LIKES to party. He is not Batman.
And you judge BG portrait here from a mere cover??? Talk about antecipation…
@meisterlegion
Ummm…….. so idk if I’m getting this right, but are you really condeming a book based on the cover??
@eduardo…

Wow. I never thought about that… It is quite jarring! Cool observation!!!
Yes. I’m fearful that judging on the cover art that Booster’s character will be taken back somehow - either memory loss caused by the explosion of coast city or by Rip Hunter to somehow “protect” his Dad…or something stupid like that. I HOPE and PRAY I’m proved wrong.
…and then I also forsee the cancellation of Booster’s book
Booster Gold will not be cancelled! It’s going to be by Giffen, DeMatteis and Chris Batista! They are probably the only team that can replace Dan on BG! Moreover, it seems very clear that DC is not rebooting characters anymore (read Doom Patrol for an exercise in “conciliating” a messy chronology). So your worries seem very far-fetched.
I trust Keith in looking after this character. He’s the man who introduced him too me, and made me love him and tbh - I maintain that the JLI had a pretty high success rate when it came to actually dealing with a crisis. Sure, Booster and Ted loved to goof off, but they also got the job done… Heh, they succeeded in spite of themselves and it was a joy to read.
Pretty much like what I’ve seen the current Booster title.
Hey… on closer inspection… is that shadow in the middle TED KORD?!
This would be in line with the whole Brightest Day thing, I mean, it seems that Aquaman is being resurrected, why not Blue Beetle?
That cover looks awful. Thankfully, Lopestri is doing the interiors, but he should have the right to do a good cover as well.
I’m really looking forward to this series
Thanks everyone for the positive feedback and optimistic perspective on how BG is going to be handled, it does ease my anxiety a little. I just REALLY care about this character and with all the changes in his book - with Dan leaving and then this book…I’m just really scared. I have literally made myself sick this morning now worrying about this.
Aaron Lopresti does great work and just makes me more excited for this series!
On a side note, I will pay any price in order to get the Maquire variant cover on this, because the cover they are showing is really unappealing.
@thephylemon - actually, Kevin Maguire’s art isn’t too far off from Tony Harris - they both draw really “cartoon-y” looking heroes:
Have a look at Kevin’s cover gallery: http://www.comicbookdb.com/creator_covergallery.php?ID=520
Tony should use Owen Wilson as the Booster model
@misterlegion- It isn’t about the cartoony look, it’s about how unattractive the characters are drawn. Compare Booster’s hairline and Fire’s nose in the art above to the following from the site you posted:
http://www.comicbookdb.com/graphics/comic_graphics/1/11/8681_20051114010603_large.jpg
I love the “cartoony” nature of Kevin Maquire. He just does it much better than Tony Harris did in the piece that they are showing us.
@thephylemon - I’ll give you that…of the two, I prefer Kevin. But, no one compares to Jurgens’ work. I’ve gotten spoilt, what can I say!
Ted Kord is dead, period. (not my words but Giffen’s)
Connection severed and re-buried.
The black out is Martian Manhunter
I would have never guessed that that cover was from Tony Harris, it looks awful.
Ice and Fire look like the wives that Homer and Flanders had in Vegas
@Ricardo: OMG, Dan is leaving Booster Gold?!
……
Бизнесмен из Вас отличный…
