Add another Lantern ring to your collection

Have you all read BLACKEST NIGHT #7? I’d hope so. If not, step away from your computers and sit down with a copy. I don’t mind waiting.

Back? Ok, great. How awesome was that last page? Take a moment to collect your thoughts, because we’ve got a nice bit of news to go with that amazing double-page spread.

With BLACKEST NIGHT #7 on sale today, we’re happy to announce a new, White Lantern promotional ring, tying into retailer orders for BRIGHTEST DAY #1. Want one to complete your set? Then make sure to mention this to your local retailer:

For every 25 copies of BRIGHTEST DAY #1 ordered by 4/15, retailers can order one bag of 50 White Lantern rings, at $8 a bag.

Cool? Well, that’s not all. In addition to the promotional rings, our friends at DC DIRECT have made no secret of their plans for a BLACKEST NIGHT POWER RING SPECTRUM SET, featuring every Lantern ring with light-up capability. And because we’re aware it’s not the full spectrum without all the ring colors, the White Lantern ring will be included at no extra cost.

Like the other wearable rings in the set (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet and black), the white ring instantly lights up with a long-lasting LED bulb when you slip the ring on your finger — depending on your mood, of course. You can also turn the rings off, but why would you?

    Ok so I read BN 7 and as good as I thought it was going to be I have to say it was better than I expected. I like alot of people speculated on the White Lantern, even thought that it might be who it turned out to be… But this is one of the best written Events EVER. I’m really looking forward to BN 8 as well as Brightest Day…

    At least now I will know how much my local comic shop is going to make on their mark up of the white ring. My LCBS never gave away the other promotional rings but sold them at $2.99 a pop. S0, 50 rings at $3 is $150 bucks for $8!

    Yeah, you know Brevoort is totally P.O.’d that Siege is a depressing & generic stinker… This white ring must have his head exploding!

    Kudo’s to the DC marketing team. Brevoort may dismiss the rings as “cracker-jack prizes” but the fans actually want them! They’re good for everyone involved and that’s what Marvel doesn’t get.

    I wonder if Marvel will take a cue from this and give away Infinity Gauntlet gems for their next event? ;)

    @kennypick Doubtful. Marvel’s not as compliant, and with their whole skirmish they tried (and failed) with dissing DC because of “selling Cracker Jack prizes” with their issues, it would be a huge hypocrisy on their part.

    Back to the matter at hand, I’ll do my best to get that White Lantern ring. Hell, maybe even dress up as a White Lantern for Halloween. ^^

    After reading BLACKEST NIGHT #7 (and especially that final double-page spread), one thought occurred to me. I know that Sinestro’s appearance was based on that of David Niven, but after seeing that spread, I really wish that Broome and Kane had chose to base his appearance on Muhammad Ali instead.
