WEIGHT: 340 lbs
EYES: None
HAIR: None
FIRST APPEARANCE: Tales of the Green Lantern Corps #1 (May 1981)
AKA: Green Lantern

BACKGROUND from the comic books:
In charge of patrolling one of the earliest Sectors charted by the Guardians of the Universe, this plant-like being is one of the oldest and most revered of the Green Lantern Corps. Apros’ roots, like those of his people, go deep with the Guardians. He helped to establish the Green Lantern Honor Guard–a status given to a highly decorated Green Lantern who has gone above and beyond their duties to the Corps. The Honor Guard has privileges beyond those of normal Corps members like going beyond their assigned Sector to enforce the law if need be.

Attributes:

  • Long lived, Apros has seen many conflicts in service of the Corps.
  • Psionic powers allow him to identify weaknesses in friend or foe.
  • Loyal to the Guardians of the Universe and his fellow Honor Guard Tomar-Re and K’ryssma.

MORRO

REAL NAME: Morro
OCCUPATION: Green Lantern Crypt Keeper
BASE OF OPERATIONS: Sector 666
HOMEWORLD: Sarc
HEIGHT: Unknown
WEIGHT: Unknown
EYES: Black
HAIR: None
FIRST APPEARANCE: Green Lantern Vol. 4 #12 (July 2006)
AKA: Green Lantern

BACKGROUND from the comic books:
The harsh dessert world of Sarc has bred equally unyielding inhabitants from the lizard-like beings who socialize in tribes to the winged beasts that fly through its skies. The nights are no better, as it is the time that other predators make their way across the sands. It is a world where fear has died of sunstroke and will is the only sustenance. Yet it is place from where one of the most compassionate Green Lanterns hails from.

Once part of a nomadic tribe known as the Relentless due to their ability to go on for weeks without any food or drink, Morro learned to appreciate life in the face of death. He had thought to avenge his brother from dragon like creatures known as dratures, but only after killing their mother did Morro find the creatures to be innocent. He befriended them and they helped save him and his brother, who had also been left to perish by their tribe.

Now Morro, along with his fierce dratures, has volunteered to keep a vigil over all that have fallen in service of the Corps. He makes sure their memory, their light continues to burn bright.

Attributes:

  • Sullen, Morro keeps to himself save for his pet dratures, as he devotes himself to preserving the marker statues of each dead Green Lantern in the crypts of Oa.
  • Indominable, the harsh life he endured on his dessert homeworld taught Morro never to give up no matter the odds against him.
  • A calm spirit, Morro’s ring constructs are very simple.

Currently aside from its duties to the Corp, this GL puts his ring and his enhanced ocular prowess to use looking for its people who vanished after the Tristram-Zanner Imperial War. This mysterious disappearance is just one of the many unexplained occurrences of the uncharted world of Zanner, of which not much has been catalogued on and M’Dahna is not one to explain.

salaak_

SALAAK

REAL NAME: Salaak
OCCUPATION: Green Lantern/Galactic Protector/Clarissi/Keeper of the Book of Oa
BASE OF OPERATIONS: Sector 1418 re-assigned to Sector 0
HOMEWORLD: Slyggia
HEIGHT: 7’6″
WEIGHT: 207 lbs.
EYES: White
HAIR: None
FIRST APPEARANCE: Green Lantern Vol. 2 #149 (February 1982)
AKA: Green Lantern

BACKGROUND from the comic books:
In an odd coincidence, Slyggia occupies the space Sector closest to Korugar, homeworld of Sinestro, especially when you consider both beings passion for order.

Currently, Salaak serves one prime Sector, Zero. At the heart of the Universe within the very Citadel of the Guardians, the stoic Slyggian acts as tactician for the GL Corps relaying the orders of their blue masters as well as passing on any revisions to the sacred Book of Oa that will affect a Green Lantern on duty. One of these was the amendment that allowed the use of Lethal Force during the Sinestro Corps War.

Salaak’s almost emotionless demeanor would suggest that this longtime veteran of the Corps does not care about his fellow GLs, but quite the opposite is true. With no connection to his homeworld or Sector, the Slyggian sought the companionship of other Green Lanterns and based himself on Earth for a time. He made many friends there, although he does not always understand or agree with Hal Jordan’s emotional outbursts. He has settled on staying in Sector 0 and serving the Guardians there.

Attributes:

  • Pessimistic, always sees the downside of a mission.
  • Meticulous to a fault, currently his charge requires him to be aware of what every Green Lantern is doing.
  • Loyal, the Guardians of the Universe could not have asked for a better servant.
  • Highly intelligent and makes calculated decisions rather than allowing sentimentality to get in the way.
  • Four-armed, he is quite the multi-tasker.
  • Ring creations are precise with nothing wasted on over-imagining them.

Which Green Lantern needs No Sleep or Food and who is Mute?

Monday, June 6th, 2011

By Pamela Mullin

green-man_gibbons

GREEN MAN

REAL NAME: N/A (his race doe not have any individuality)
OCCUPATION: Green Lantern/Galactic Protector, Alpha Lantern/Galactic Enforcer
BASE OF OPERATIONS: Sector 2828
HOME PLANET: Uxor
HEIGHT: 6’2”
WEIGHT: 210 lbs.
EYES: Red
HAIR: None
FIRST APPEARANCE: GREEN LANTERN Vol. 2 #164 (May, 1983)
AKA: Green Lantern, Alpha Lantern

BACKGROUND from the comic books:
On the planet Uxor there is no individuality. Names are derived from the jobs given to one. The only way to identify someone is by their distinctive skin patterns on their scalp and shoulders. Everyone does as they are told and follow the order of this amphibious world without question.

Well, almost. One being dared to dream beyond the status quo, and breached the stagnant state of their world, and it was this very will to do that that brought him to the attention of the Guardians of the Universe.

Earning the name Green Man, this Uxorian jumped at the chance of leaving his stifling world to experience all that the cosmos had to offer as a Green Lantern. This placed him in combat situations against the criminal Spider-Guild of the Vega System, fighting alongside the heroic band of freedom fighters known as the Omega Men, and inducting “space-gypsy” Gretti into the Green Lantern Corps.

His dedication and undying loyalty to the Green Lantern Corps earned him a place in the Guardian’s new law enforcement division policing the Corps, the dreaded Alpha Lanterns. Sacrificing almost all their humanity, the Alpha Lanterns are cyborgs with built in power batteries that enforce the laws of the sacred Book of OA. Lifting their mechanical faces, Green Man Alpha Lantern can drain a regular Green Lantern of all his ring charge.

Attributes:

  • Green Lantern ring allows for a protective shield and energy constructs.
  • Amphibious.
  • Has limited telepathy.
  • Can open portals in space for teleportation.
  • Possesses a deadly nerve toxin in his blood stream.
  • Has an innate individuality not associated with the rest of his race.
  • As an Alpha Lantern his new hard-wired GL battery powered cyborg body needs no sleep or food.
  • An Alpha Lantern’s main face lifts to reveal a second facade that can drain power rings, “No Lantern escapes the Alpha Lanterns.”

larvox

LARVOX

REAL NAME: Larvox
OCCUPATION: Green Lantern/Galactic Protector
BASE OF OPERATIONS: Sector 17
HOME PLANET: Sputan
HEIGHT: 5’6”
WEIGHT: 230 lbs
EYES: Black (one-eye)
HAIR: Orange
FIRST APPEARANCE: Green Lantern Vol.2 #9 (November-December 1961)
AKA: Green Lantern

BACKGROUND from the comic books:
Larvox is an asexual being from the planet Sputan, which has a very unique evolutionary cycle. Here insects, bactria and plants became more prominent than mammals. All denizens share in a community with no true individuality. This is done in harmony with the planet, and not something imposed by their society. It was this free will that allowed Larvox to be a longstanding member of the Green Lantern Corps.

Mute, Larvox can only converse using his ring. But what he lacks in words, he has more than made up in actions as he fought alongside Hal Jordan and the Corps through many important conflicts such as stopping an invasion by the Weaponers of the Anti-Matter Universe of Qward and a confrontation with Nekron, the Lord of Death.

Attributes:

  • Green Lantern ring allows for a protective shield and energy constructs.
  • Mute.
  • Fierce warrior.
  • Unswerving dedication to the GL Corps.

Batman, Incorporated to return with a new #1 in 2012

Monday, June 6th, 2011

By Austin Trunick

In the wake of our announcement of a historic line of new #1′s within the Batman family, many of you noticed that while several of the titles and characters spun out of the Batman, Inc. storyline, there was no mention of that series itself – but there’s a reason for that: Grant Morrison’s BATMAN, INCORPORATED series will return with a new issue #1 in early 2012.

Grant Morrison had this to say about Batman, Incorporated:

“Batman, Incorporated will continue through to Issue #10 and August’s shocking season finale that changes the Batman status quo yet again. The series will take a brief hiatus while I work on a major new project to be announced shortly. Batman, Incorporated returns next year with me, Chris Burnham and Batman: Leviathan, the epic 12 part conclusion to my 6 year Batman saga. Don’t miss it!”
