SDCC – The Day After

Monday, July 25th, 2011

By Brandy Phillips

(Grant Morrison, Jim Lee and Geoff Johns at the Warner Bros. party on Friday night.)

Well, it’s done. Another San Diego Comic-Con in the books.

We met so many fantastic fans (many of whom got Wayne Casino Poker Chips and an assortment of our other fantastic giveaway items) and want to thank them all for their feedback, their comments, their questions and most of all their passion. You all are the reason we keep doing what we’re doing and seeing so many assembled in one place is a great experience for all of us here.

The centerpiece of Sunday’s panel lineup was the last of a series dedicated to “Designing the New DC Comics.” This time the big reveal given to those in the room (and then to those who are friends of ours on Facebook) were looks at the new designs characters will be sporting after September. From BATGIRL to MISTER TERRIFIC to GRIFTER and more, the new outfits and overall looks of the characters was on display and the response was great.

After that the last in a series of panels focusing on DC Comics The New 52 was held and new villains for BATGIRL, FLASH, SUPERGIRL, and FIRESTORM were discussed

The focus then turned back to artwork with a panel featuring Jim Lee, Cully Hammer and Adam Hughes as they shared how they do their artistic work month after month.

And that’s that! We’ll continue to share in more detail some of the news that came out of Comic-Con but thanks to everyone for another great year. Look for us on Facebook and Twitter to keep up with DC Entertainment day in and day out.

Unfortunately for him, the Justice League are only fictional comic book characters and everyone thinks Adam is crazy. So what’ll his next step be? A trip to the DC Comics offices, of course.

Meanwhile, Kanjar Ro wreaks havoc on Earth 1, and Wonder Woman, Green Arrow and The Flash will have to venture to Earth Prime to save Adam Strange in order to restore his memory of who he really is. This new story is by Cary Bates, Gordon Purcell, Jose Marzan Jr. and Andy Smith. DC RETROACTIVE: JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA – THE ‘70s also features a classic tale from the ‘70s by Cary Bates, Elliot S. Maggin, Dick Dillin and Frank McLaughlin, and arrives in stores on Wednesday.

DC Entertainment – SDCC Day Two Recap

Saturday, July 23rd, 2011

By Brandy Phillips

Day Two of San Diego Comic-Con is officially in the books! The excitement at our booth was overflowing as people lined up for their chance to become part of the Justice League and attendees continue to collect Wayne Casino Poker Chips both at the booth and at panels where they ask great questions.

After that we held the second DC Comics The New 52 panel of SDCC, where the entire editorial team was assembled, giving people information on timelines, costume design and other topics related to September’s big event.

One of the highlights of the day, though, was our DC Comics Superman panel, where the creative team showed off exclusive new artwork reveals from Superman, Action Comics, Supergirl and Superboy. Also shown was brand new artwork from the upcoming Superman: Earth One graphic novel. Fans of our Facebook page also got an exclusive look at three videos featuring Grant Morrison talking about Superman and what makes the character special to him.

More exclusive artwork reveals were part of the DC Comics Justice League panel. New pages and panels were shown from not just the core team book but also the individual titles for the characters in the JL, including Green Arrow, Mister Terrific and others.

Once again the day ended with good stuff from Vertigo Comics, this time a panel devoted to American Vampire. Attendees were given previews of upcoming artwork and story arcs as well as an introduction to the mythology behind the series and the vampires featured in it.

Make sure you check out our Comic-Con schedule for what’s coming up today and stay tuned here as well as on Twitter and Facebook for updates throughout the day.
