Yesterday, COMIC BOOK RESOURCES invited you to their DC Comics-The New 52 wrap party being held at Golden Apple Comics in Los Angeles tonight. Joining the previously announced attending talent will be BLACKHAWKS writer Mike Costa.

Tonight’s event will be held at the Golden Apple Hollywood store on 7018 Melrose Avenue from 7:00 – 10:00 PM. See you there!

IGN continued their series of interviews with all of the creative teams behind DC Comics-The New 52. This time around, they caught up with Peter Milligan (JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK), Gail Simone and Ethan Van Sciver (THE FURY OF FIRESTORM: THE NUCLEAR MEN), and Justin Gray and Jimmy Palmiotti (ALL-STAR WESTERN). “Our goal with Gotham was to make it less of a backdrop and more of a living, breathing character,” Gray explained of his book’s setting. “Placing Jonah Hex there, a man used to wide open spaces and solitude only helps his character and the mythology of Gotham.”

COMIC BOOK RESOURCES interviewed ACTION COMICS writer Grant Morrison. “Part of this first story arc shows how he goes from being an outlaw to the world’s first superhero,” Morrison said of Superman. “It’s very much about that and about the pressures that would be placed on you if you had this bright idea that you were going to change the world.”

IGN continued their series of interviews with all of the creative teams behind DC Comics-The New 52. “I’m already growing attached to our first villain (and creation), Mob Rule,” THE FLASH co-writer Brian Buccellato said. “We are NOT making life easy for The Flash…why should we?”

And speaking of THE FLASH, IFANBOY has selected the first issue as their “Pick of the Week.” This marks the fifth consecutive week that they’ve chosen a title from DC Comics-The New 52. Ron Richards wrote a fantastic post about his connection to the character to accompany their selection. “When creating stories about The Flash, it’s all about speed and momentum,” he wrote. “Both in depicting The Flash within the book and the pace of the story itself. It’s clear with THE FLASH #1 that Manpul and Buccellato understand that. The kinetic energy that comes from drawing The Flash clearly is spread to the story itself and as of right now, I’m super excited to be a fan of The Flash once again.”

IGN also caught up with I, VAMPIRE writer Joshua Hale Fialkov and AQUAMAN writer Geoff Johns. “She’s a lot more aggressive than most of our heroes in the DC Universe. But she is incredibly strong and she’s incredibly loyal,” Johns said of Mera. “The first issue kind of sets the stage for Aquaman and then Mera comes into the book, and – I think it’s issue #6 – is actually just going to focus on Mera. So for me, ever since BLACKEST NIGHT, pulling her out of obscurity and putting her into it and building her up, I think it just makes Aquaman stronger and it adds another iconic female superhero to the DC Universe.”

There’s been no shortage of big news here on THE SOURCE, and today’s certainly no exception. And as we continue to make headlines and generate buzz with DC COMICS-THE NEW 52, we’ve got another announcement of our own right here.

Mikel Janin, the artist behind JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK in DC COMICS-THE NEW 52, has signed an exclusive contract with DC Comics. Paired with writer Peter Milligan, he will continue to draw the adventures of the team tasked with fighting evil too twisted for our regular heroes to handle. Janin cut his teeth with JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA, and went on to illustrate FLASHPOINT: DEADMAN & THE FLYING GRAYSONS.

And how’s Janin feel about his new contract? Let’s ask him.

“I’m so happy and proud to announce I’ve signed an exclusive agreement with DC. It was exactly one year ago when I met DC Executive Editor Eddie Berganza in Avilés Comic Con. Pepe Caldelas, from Nutopia Agency, introduced my work to him, since other well known Nutopia artists, such as Ardian Syaf, Vicente Cifuentes or Ulises Arreola were already working for DC. When Eddie gave me my first assignment, seven pages for JLA, it was a dream come true. But I didn’t expect that these pages will lead so quickly to such important assignments like FLASHPOINT: DEADMAN & THE FLYING GRAYSONS, and specially The New 52 series JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK, teaming up with no less than Peter Milligan. DC has put its trust in me and my art, and I feel grateful and honored. Signing exclusively with them is just a way to strengthen the great relationship between the two of us.”

Today, the final batch of first issues from DC Comics-The New 52 went on sale. Among these books was AQUAMAN #1.

“Everybody around has at least heard of Aquaman, and they’ve probably heard all the jokes — the same jokes Aquaman’s heard — and they have their opinion on Aquaman,” writer Geoff Johns told USA TODAY. “Whether it’s good or bad, that’s what the book’s all about.”

“We tackle what people think Aquaman is already right off the bat,” Johns said to CNN’s GEEK OUT. “He is very much a character that is an underdog in the world of super heroes.”

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY has the exclusive preview of BATGIRL #2 by Gail Simone, Ardian Syaf and Vicente Cifuentes featured on their homepage.

The second part of THE LOS ANGELES TIMES’ HERO COMPLEX interview with BATMAN writer Scott Snyder has gone live. “It really goes after his confidence as a protector and legend of Gotham,” Snyder said of The Dark Knight in his series. “Along with it, there’ll be a lot of revelations about the Wayne family, about the Grayson family too, and it will all tie into NIGHTWING. The epic storyline will be 11 issues long, really about a war for Gotham’s soul between the Bat and this other organization, with some shocking new enemies for him built out of this mythology we’re going to develop.”

With the first day of October being this weekend, Halloween is quickly approaching. To kick off our preparations, FEAR.NET interviewed writers Scott Snyder and Jeff Lemire about their horror series, SWAMP THING, ANIMAL MAN and FRANKENSTEIN, AGENT OF S.H.A.D.E. “The Red and the Green are so closely linked,” teased Lemire about an upcoming crossover between ANIMAL MAN and SWAMP THING. “So in many ways, both of our stories, even though they’re kind of separate for the first ten issues or so, are actually kind of part of a bigger story. That will come together at the end of the first year and then spin off into something new with both books linked again. We’re super excited about that.”

And speaking of titles in the Dark family? BLOODY DISGUSTING has selected JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK #1 as their “Graphic Content Pick of the Week.”
